El Dorado is an interactive travelogue that uses an often-overlooked feature of the web — a wide horizontal scroll. Part of an international collaboration with German graphic designers and writers, this piece plays off of my Hamburb-based guests’ astonishment at the endless flatness of the American central planes. We set out on a pilgrimage to Hamburg, Illinois, and hilarity ensued. Programmer Vika Zafrin coded a fade-in title; the writing, design and coding of the project pages is all my own.
